PLANO (1080 KRLD) - A survey by WalletHub says drivers in Plano are the best in North Texas, and among the best in the country.

The survey of the 100 biggest cities in the country found Raleigh, North Carolina the best city for drivers in the United States, followed by Corpus Christi. Plano ranked fifth.

"The speed limit's 40 on most roads, so I can get to my destinations a little faster without having to go over the speed limit," one woman said as she filled her gas tank at a station near 75 and the Bush Turnpike.

Plano scored 8th for safety, 20th for the cost to own a car, 30th for traffic and 48th for access to maintenance.

Another person filling up says drivers in Plano are more polite than in other parts of the Metroplex.

"I'm polite and I always get polite drivers," she said.

Cities in Tarrant County followed Plano. Arlington was ranked 13th for drivers; Fort Worth is 16th.

Dallas finished 36, followed by Irving at 37. Garland was 40.

Detroit was named the worst for drivers among the nation's 100 biggest cities.
