CONROE (KRLD) - A 25-year-old mother faces 40 years in prison after pleading guilty to attempting to sell her child for sex.

An undercover detective in Montgomery County encountered Sarah Peters online and the two made an agreement to meet up.

"She was trying to sell her two-year-old daughter for sex for $1,200," Assistant District Attorney Tyler Dunman says.

Peters was arrested when she showed up with her daughter at a Greyhound Bus Station to meet with the man. Special agents took her into custody and took the unharmed child to a safe location.

Peters will not be eligible for parole until 2038.

"It's zero tolerance here. Our juries don't put up with it. Our judges don't tolerate this type of behavior," Dunman says. "People must realize this type of activity happens in our community.  We need the community to be vigilant and report to law enforcement any activity they see/hear where a child might be in danger of abuse or sexual exportation."
