July 02, 2018 - 5:22 am

WAXAHACHIE (1080 KRLD) - There's bold message at Lake Waxahachie this holiday week. Stay out, unless you live there.

The Waxahachie City Council that the three parks at Lake Waxahachie will be closed to all non-residents on Independence Day and this weekend coming up due to over crowding

When visitors arrive at Boat Dock, Jetty, and Spring Parks, city staff will be on site to check proof of residence which could include items such as a driver's license and utility bill.

The Waxahachie Parks & Recreation Department says the parks are designed to accommodate a few hundred people at a time. But on major holidays, they have seen thousands of visitors from across Dallas-Fort Worth over the past few years.
