Too Close To Call: Dallas Mayor Race Leads To Runoff

DALLAS (KRLD) - The race for Dallas mayor is headed to a runoff on June 8.

Dallas is electing a new mayor for the first time since 2011, and last night the tally was too close to call as nine potential candidates fought it out in the election.

Since nobody in the race secured more than 51 percent of the vote, the top two contenders will face off once again this summer. Those contenders are Eric Johnson and Scott Griggs.

Last night Johnson finished with 20 percent of the overall vote. Griggs snagged 18 percent.

Both contenders spent Saturday night celebrating the results, with Griggs calling it an honor to be in the runoff.
