Tornado Watch Issued For Most Of North Texas

May 18, 2019 - 10:12 am

The National Weather Service in Fort Worth has issued a Tornado watch until 5 p.m. for Collin, Dallas, Denton, Ellis, Johnson, Parker, Rockwall and Tarrant counties.

A tornado watch means weather conditions are favorable for the development of severe thunderstorms called a supercell that are capable of producing tornadoes. There have been no spottings or warnings issued for the area.

These storms could have hail up to ping pong ball size and winds up to 70 MPH.

Our chief meterologist, Dan Brunoff, says the window of heavy rain here is about 11 a.m. through 3 p.m.
