DALLAS (1080 KRLD) - Jury selection begins in a Federal Court this morning in a trial that's related to last summer's kidnapping and murder of a 13-year old Lancaster girl.

The charges against LaPorchya Polley are only remotely connected to the kidnapping and murder case of 13-year old Shavon Randle.

Police say Randle was abducted off a street in Lancaster in June of last year. Her body was found four days later in an abandoned Oak Cliff house.

Investigators think the kidnapping may have been in retaliation for marijuana that was stolen by one of Randle's distant relativs, from Polley and Darius Fields several days earlier.

Polley and Fields were tracked down at another motel days after the kidnapping. Investigators say they found a gun and some marijuana, but in this trial, Polley is accused of falsifying information in statements to a gun dealer.

Fields was convicted of federal charges several weeks ago and still awaiting sentencing.

Nobody has stood trial for Shavon Randle's murder, yet.
