DALLAS (1080 KRLD) - Dallas police say a shooting early Tuesday morning put a 13-year-old boy and ten year old girl in the hospital.

Police were called to the complex in the Lake Highlands area of Northeast Dallas about 2:10 a.m.

Police say someone had shot into an apartment near Royal Lane and Abrams. The 13 year old boy and ten year old girl were inside with a 37 year old man.

Other tenants say the gunfire woke them up.

"I was sleeping, and I heard the gunshots, maybe five or six gunshots at the same time, and I woke up," says a woman who lives in the same complex.

She says she has heard gunfire before but never so many shots in rapid succession.

"I was like, 'I can't wait to leave this apartment,'" she said. "It was scary."

The two children are at Children's Medical Center and were stable Tuesday morning. The 37 year old man was not hurt.

The Dallas police gang unit is now investigating, but police have not made any arrests or confirmed what may have led to the shooting.
