DALLAS (1080 KRLD) - The redesign of the so-called "3G" intersection in East Dallas has been given the green light.

The Texas Department of Transportation (TXDOT) is moving forward with redesigning the intersection of Gaston Avenue, Garland Road and Grand Avenue into a "reverse T" after complaints that the intersection was dangerous and confusing.

The redesign would allow one lane of traffic to continue straight and the majority of drivers would be able to turn onto Gaston Avenue.

Michelle Raglon, with TxDOT says the improvements will benefit everyone.

Construction is set to begin in the Fall of 2020 and is expected to last about one year.
