TXDOT To Hold Public Meeting On I-30 Expansion Project

January 31, 2019 - 2:30 pm

ROYSE CITY (1080 KRLD) - The Texas Department of Transportation will hold an open house tonight in Royse City on a plan to expand I-30.

TXDot wants to add a lane for 17 miles of Interstate 30 from Bass Pro Drive, across Lake Ray Hubbard, and east to Royse City.

Crews will also build continuous frontage roads over Lake Ray Hubbard with bike and pedestrian lanes.

TXDot says it would need about 35 acres of additional land, but the expansion of I-30 would not affect any homes or businesses.

The entire project would cost an estimated $627 million. The state hopes to start construction in 2022, and the project would take three years.

TXDot is holding a meeting at Royse City High School at 6:00 p.m. Thursday for anyone who wants to learn more.
