United Plans To Resume Shipping Pets As Cargo

May 02, 2018 - 6:49 am

DALLAS (1080 KRLD) - United Airlines plans to resume shipping dogs and cats as cargo, but certain breeds will still be banned.

United says dogs and cats will be accepted in the cargo hold beginning in July, but the airline will ban 25 breeds it says face bigger health risks during flights.

Breeds to be excluded would include snub-nosed animals such as boxers, pugs, bulldogs, and Persian cats.

The change won't affect pets in the cabin, even though a French bulldog died recently after a flight attendant told the owner to put the carrier in an overhead bin.
