University Of North Texas Testing Bike Share Pilot Program

DENTON (1080 KRLD / NBC5) - Officials with the University of North Texas want students to leave their bikes at home, and instead take advantage of the school's upcoming bike share pilot program.

Trista Moxley with UNT's Transportation Services tells NBC-5 part of the problem has to do with what happens after school ends, when hundreds of students leave UNT, but leave their bikes behind.

UNT has contracted with the rental bike firm Spin, and when students return this fall the school plans to have 250 dockless rental bikes for them to use.

The school is working with the city of Denton to make sure the Spin bikes aren't left all over town.

Moxley says the goal is make UNT a more walkable, bikeable campus, without the headache of a bicycle graveyard.
