DALLAS (1080 KRLD) - The protest comes despite a victory for these students, who petitioned online to have Jacob Anderson kicked out of UT Dallas.

Anderson formerly attended Baylor, and is accused of raping a fellow student in 2016. This week Anderson reached a plea deal, which will keep him out of jail and keep him from having to register as a sex offender.

The UTD students' petition succeeded in barring Anderson from campus and keeping him away from graduation ceremonies next week. Still, those students say he should never have been allowed to enroll.

UTD says they didn’t know about his legal history when they admitted him. Students feel that the university’s lack of due diligence could have put them at risk.

The protest starts at noon today on the university campus in Richardson.
