DALLAS (1080 KRLD) - Walmart is toasting to a federal judge's ruling, but the decision is not sitting well with some liquor store owners in Texas.

State law doesn't allow publicly traded companies, like Walmart, to own liquor stores, but the retail giant sought to change that and sued the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission. A judge in Austin sided with Walmart and agreed the law unfairly discriminates against out-of-state companies.

While the decision was a victory for Walmart and the folks who want to get their vodka and tequila where they get their toilet paper, liquor store owners aren't cheering the decision. They said Walmart could drive down prices and ultimately drive them out of business.

The Texas Package Stores Association said it plans to appeal.
