FORT WORTH (KRLD) - A woman who was nearly killed in a car crash in Fort Worth is celebrating her birthday today.

Tasha Morio threw a party at MedStar's headquarters and served cake to first responders who helped her after the crash.

"They are the best at what they do, and they will save your life," she says.

Morio was injured in November of 2016. She says she spent three weeks in a coma and broke her leg, had internal injuries and her hand nearly had to be amputated.

Police Officer Buddy Calzada was one of the first on the scene of the crash. He had a piece of cake with Morion Wednesday morning.

"At the time, I had every serious doubt she probably wasn't going to make it," he says. "We, as a team, do everything we can for the best outcome. This was absolutely amazing to have this outcome."

"Now, I know who everybody was because I can't remember that day," Morio says. "It's a lot better knowing face to name and shake their hands to appreciate who they are."

Morio says she rarely drives now, and will only drive if someone is in the car with her.
