Rain Moves Out, Sun Returns And Chilly Temps Stay

No snow today, some sleet may be mixing in. Why you ask?

The temperature at 3000' above the surface is at 42゜

Snow is falling above that level, but is melting as it reaches that level. So no snow this morning.

There has been some sleet mixing in North of Dallas and Fort Worth this morning, a thin subfreezing layer between 1200ft and 1800ft is causing the melted snow (cold rain) to refreeze (sleet) in this thin cold layer before it hits the ground, but temps at ground level are in the mid 30s, so no freezing rain (rain that freezes on contact with the ground) equals no road problems.

Rain will move out late morning into early afternoon. We may even see the sun before the day is done, but it will remain chilly.

A light freeze expected tomorrow morning with slowly warming temperatures though the rest of the week.

  • Just cold rain, with some sleet mixing in this morning.
  • Rain ends this afternoon, staying chilly.
  • Slow warm up through the rest of the week.
  • Next STRONG cold front late this weekend.
  • Slight rain chance late Sunday into Monday.
