Learn about the discovery of newly unearthed human relative Homo naledi with National Geographic blogger and nature photographer John S. Mead at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, July 12, at the Allen Public Library, 300 N. Allen Dr.  Under the direction of paleontologist Dr. Lee Berger, other fossils of an unprecedented 15 individuals of Homo naledi were eventually discovered.  Call 214-509-4911 for additional information.

Ever wanted to hear the music of Frank Zappa combined with bluegrass?  Become a reptilian and enjoy the music of the Austin Lounge Lizards at 7:30 p.m. Friday, July 13 at the Allen Public Library, 300 N. Allen Dr., call 214-509-4911 for additional information.  Free concert!

Enjoy live music at twilight with the 4th season of Garden Gigs at the Dallas Arboretum this July. Each Friday event features local artists and musicians performing throughout the 66-acre gardens. This weekend features Kirk Thurmond, Haylee and Amanda and Zach Coffey. Garden Gigs runs from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m., offering fabulous views of Dallas at sunset, vibrant summer plantings, along with late access to the garden on the shores of White Rock Lake. Guests can bring their own picnics and beverages, or take advantage of delicious offerings from some of DFW's most popular food trucks including Bellatrino and Grub Tub. Gates open at 6 p.m. Tickets are $15 and parking is included.

The Parker County Peach Festival is happening in Downtown Weatherford this Saturday July 14!

The National Fantasy Football Convention is at the Will Rogers Memorial Center Friday through Sunday July 13-15. At the NFFC you can interact with hundreds of NFL players, talk fantasy with industry experts, explore and shop in the Fan Expo Hall, attend exciting events at the NFFC stages, party with players, get photos and autographs, toss the pigskin on the NFFC Field and so, so much more.
