Local COVID-19 Hospitalizations Up More Than 100% Since June

Monday, July 6th
Dallas County has reported more than 1,000 coronavirus cases each day since Friday.  That includes a daily record of 1,103 on Saturday.

In addition, 12% of the total cases confirmed in Dallas County during the pandemic have been reported since Friday.  Judge Clay Jenkins says Dallas County is now experiencing "rampant community spread" of COVID-19, and officials are concerned the numbers will spike even more coming out of the July 4th weekend.

Dallas-Fort Worth Hospital Council President/CEO Stephen Love says more than 1,500 patients are currently hospitalized with COVID-19 in North Texas hospitals.  That number was around 700 on June 15.  Half the Dallas County cases reported since June 1 have been in patients under age 40.
