Texas Researcher Developing Catch & Kill Filter For COVID-19

Monday, July 13th
This could be a big leap forward in the fight against the coronavirus.

Researchers at the College of Medicine at the University of Houston are working on a nickel and foam filter shown to be highly effective in "catching and killing" COVID-19 by trapping and then superheating the virus to eradicate it.

On Monday, UH's Dr. Faisal Cheema joined the KRLD Morning News to talk about the invention, how it works and where it can be most useful as the pandemic rages.  Dr. Cheema says school systems in several states have shown an interest.  Researchers hope to have the filters available in August.
